Pleasure, Passion & Playfulness: Reclaiming Joy as Practice

Thursday, July 16, 2026 | Location - TBD

Joy isn't frivolous. Pleasure isn't selfish. Play isn't something you earn after the real work is done.

We’ve been conditioned to associate worth with productivity and hustle at the expense of joy and ease. As Black women, reclaiming pleasure, passion, and playfulness is a revolutionary act. It's the practice of saying: I deserve to feel good in my body and my life, not as a reward, but as my birthright.

This Salon explores how to integrate joy into daily life; not as an escape from reality, but as fuel for sustainable thriving. We'll discuss the divine feminine archetypes (building on themes from the May Virtual Gathering and the June Soft Life Supper), examine how pleasure functions as both restoration and resistance, and practice giving ourselves permission to play without guilt.

Summer invites us to bask. This evening gives you permission to actually do it.

What happens at The Salon?

✦ 3-hour intimate gathering with light refreshments and beverages
✦ Facilitated conversation led by Esther Boykin
✦ Frameworks for integrating joy as daily practice
✦ Connection with women who refuse to postpone their pleasure

6:30 pm - Opening & Grounding
We'll begin with a brief practice to drop into presence and pleasure in our bodies.

7:00 pm - Facilitated Conversation
We'll explore: What does it mean to practice pleasure intentionally? How do we reclaim playfulness when we've been taught to be serious and productive? Which divine feminine archetypes help us access joy (the lover, the wild woman, the queen)? Where have we confused self-care with indulgence, and how do we shift that narrative? What would it look like to let passion—not just discipline—drive our ambition?

8:15 pm - Integration & Closing
Reflective practice and personal commitments to pleasure.

8:30 pm - Departure
