Coming Home to Your Body: Embodiment as Reclamation

Wednesday, March 5, 2026 | Washington, DC

Everyone's talking about embodiment. But what does it actually mean to live in your body when you've spent years learning to ignore what it's telling you?

For high-achieving Black and Brown women navigating a world that polices our bodies, dismisses our pain, and demands we perform strength at all costs; embodiment isn't just a wellness trend. It's a reclamation. A practice of listening to the body you've been conditioned to override in pursuit of productivity, palatability, or survival.

This Salon cuts through the superficial conversations about embodiment and explores what it truly means to be present in your physical self. We'll discuss somatic practices, the politics of Black women's bodies, pleasure as a pathway to presence, and how to reconnect with the wisdom your body has been offering all along.

What happens at The Salon?

✦ 3-hour intimate gathering
✦ Light refreshments and beverages
✦ Facilitated conversation led by Esther Boykin
✦ Connection with women who understand that healing isn't linear
